This
is the Colorado River that crosses Austin Texas in its way to Mexico. |
Austin
is the Capital of Texas, but is a rather small, clean and friendly looking city. |
A
couple of all buildings and a lot of New ones |
This
I did not expect, It seems that Austin has a capitol, not really White, more
like redish-pink |
Another
view |
An
another |
There
are a couple of sculptures around the main streets (Congress Avenue) |
Don't
quite remember who he was..... |
Not
a Remington, but another copycat
sculpture |
some
of the detail, (Actually the legs where too short) |
This
monument is in memory of those that lost their lives fighting for the south
during the Civil war. |
Not
Kidding,,,,,, |
Actually,
it turns out that about two million bats make their living in the crevices of
the bridges that cross the Colorado river. |
The
Bats travel from Mexico to Texas in the Summer, and have found their home right
next to the Four Seassons Hotel. |
Between
7:00 PM and 8:00PM the Bats emerge from their homes and go in search of food |
The
most interesting part of the story is that the people from Austin have learned
to live with the bats. |
They
are not feared or destroyed. That is really amazing. |
As
for a different type of night life.. the 6th street is Austin's place to party. |
There
are many... many bars, Pubs, and Billiards most host with live music, Jazz,
Rock, Piano, etc. |
The
street was mostly empty because is was early and because most of the University
students are on vacation |
Still I think you
can get the feeling of the ambiance |
By
the way, there where many small but really good Pizza places. |
This
is another |
OK,
Just so I can be seen in a least a picture, this is me at night in the
pool. |
Rather
small, and green pool, but it was 80 degrees with 100% humidity to it was great. |
